The camera sees and records only a small isolated part of the larger scene, reduces it to only two dimensions, frames it, and freezes it. It does not discriminate as we do.

As I was reading one of the websites on composition and aesthetics that Lisa provided us with, I found this quote above. It is something that we know happens when a picture is taken, but rarely do you think about it in this depth. I thought it was very eloquent and it made me think about how amazing cameras really are. They are the only way a person can look through another's eyes and maybe even find new meaning in something they have looked at for years in their own eyes. I also have one other quote that I found to be inquisitive.
Art is an invention of aesthetics, which in turn is an invention of philosophers... What we call art is a game.

I liked this photo the best. It is a clementine in the snow at work. I like that there is a third person perspective and that, although the focus is the clementine (because it stands out in color), there are other things happening in the photo. I also like the fact that the trees in the background clearly depict a northern tree line even though it almost looks as though the clementine fell from one of these trees.
I also liked this photo of the clementine. It almost looks like the clementine is alive and has a viewpoint of its own. I know this sounds odd, but I think it is kind-of cool; a clementine in the snow, gazing at something in the distance.
