This is a portrait of my boyfriend Ben relaxing on the couch watching television. I wanted to capture him when his face was neutral so that the viewer can decide for themself what his personality is like. I took the photograph at a low angle starting with his knee to draw the eyes toward his face.
This is my dog Murray. It is really hard to capture him when he isn't moving and although he is in front of a window and I would rather he were not, I really like the image. This is what he looks like when no one is watching. I was also below him when the picture was taken.
I love your photos! Awesome job, Ammanda! I really like the black and white touch. It helps enhance the subjects and make them pop. Nice job achievning your goal in the first photo with angles and expression. Brave choice to photgraph your dog! The result is beautiful. I like the backgrounds in your photos becauese they are in their natural placement and that doesn't draw away from the overall effect of the photo. Great job.
ReplyDeleteAmmanda great job on your portraits! I loved both of them! I guess I have a "thing" for portraits that are taken from a different angle! The one you took of Ben was really great and the black and white makes it that much better! Also great photo of your dog! I love how you played with eye contact in this one. It was great how your dog wasn't looking in the camera!
ReplyDeleteAmmanda, the picture of Ben came out wonderfully, if you matted and framed it, it would make a great present for his family. I love the B&W but it made it a little harder to see Murray.
ReplyDeleteI like that yours are in black and white. There is a classic feel to these, making them spontaneous and real.
ReplyDeleteNice job!
The angle you use on Ben made the shot also the black and white somehow makes it feel more real.
ReplyDeleteLove the dog he kinda looks like a bookend lol
Ammanda, Great job with your portraits. I really like how you used the b & w. Love the one with your dog, so great that you were able to get him to sit...mine just wants to lick the camera or get so close I can't see anything but a white blob. Nice job. Love the angles.
ReplyDeleteReally liek the portrait of your dog. The clors look great. You can kind of see that he is anxious to get away from where he is. Very cool
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of Ben, his leg really works as a leading line. The one of your doggy is a bit dark. It works okay with Ben, but I lose your dog's head a bit in the dark window.
